Group Classes

Vibri-level (Minimum 2 students per group) - R260 p/month

Many students between the ages of 6 – 9 years old know that they want to do music, but they have no idea what instrument they want to play. We have developed a program (Vibri-Level) where they have “music” lessons and in the process,  they get exposed to Piano, Recorder, Vocals & Guitar. After completing the program there will be clarity of what instrument would work best for the learner and they will have a basic knowledge of music. They will be able to play songs on all 4 instruments. They will also receive a Vibri-Level certificate once they’ve completed the course. It can be offered on individual basis or in a group. Groups consist of a minimum of 2 students up to a maximum of 6.

Vibri-play (Minimum 4 students per group) - R140 p/month

For students between the ages of 4 and 6 years old who show a big interest in music. With percussion instruments we teach basic music skills so that every student gets a head start for formal lessons in the future.    We do it in a playful manner and try to create a love for music.

GBD classes (minimum 2 students per group) - R260 p/month
Beginners class with introduction to drums, guitar and bass. They will learn basic techniques for the instruments. Classes are once a week for 30 minutes.

Internal exams - R220

These exams are on the same standard as external examinations, but these exams are specifically for those who cannot afford an external examination at R500 – R1500 per exam, but still want to progress and receive a certificate. One of the other teachers at the school will be the examiner, not the student’s weekly teacher. The motivation for this is to create a similar atmosphere as the external examinations where the students only get examined on their performance for that day. All teachers are human, and evaluating their own student will be mostly subjective, they will take their student’s yearly progress into account and not just that days performance. These examinations will not take place in their normal lesson time, but on another day.

Concert tickets - R100 p/person

Because the concerts work with a strict budget, we must have some indication of income, therefore we ask each student who participates at the concerts to sell a minimum of 3 tickets. When there is more than one student in a family who partake in the concerts, we do not expect the family to sell a minimum of 6 tickets, but only 4. Please note that any student is welcome to sell more than the minimum amount of tickets.

Vibrience Rhythmic Guitar Syllabus Book - R200

Because there is no other rhythm guitar syllabus that you can follow, we decided to put together our own. We found that there is a great need among guitar students to be able to play the chords and to be part of the “Praise & Worship Band” at the church or want to sit around the campfire and make music. This syllabus does not only consist of songs, but it also includes all the chords, technique, theory, scales, aural development & a bigger appreciation for music, like any external examination.

Vibrience Contemporary Syllabus book - R300

This serves as a handbook for the Rockschool external examination as well as the internal examinations.

CONCERT OPPORTUNITIES:

g

Recitals

In the second and fourth terms, we offer recitals on weeknights, taking the form of an informal house concert with a maximum of 10 students per session. Students are given the opportunity to perform a song in front of a small audience consisting of their families and peers. These small concerts are an ideal opportunity for first-time performers and students who do not yet feel comfortable with the large stage. It also provides an opportunity for more experienced students to try something new, such as testing out a new song or different genre of music.

There are no fixed fees involved in participation or attendance of recitals. Families are only requested to bring some refreshments.

“Concert for a Cause” (with a Recording option) Show

For this Show, every student who is interested goes into studio once during the period of January and February to record a song. We also make a video recording of the experience and, should the parents and students permit, it will be added to our YouTube and Facebook pages. At the actual concert in March, the student performs their song on stage. (Note: It is not the recording that will be played, but the student performing live.)

There are costs involved for the studio recording. Pricelist is available on request. Part of the concert ticket fees goes to a charity.

Band Show

For most students, the Band Show is the highlight of their year. We make use of session musicians to form the band, and then the participating student replaces the relevant band member for their song. The main aim of this concert is to provide students with a chance to work with other musicians. Most students want to perform with a rock band, but for those who prefer to do a more classical song, we assemble a small chamber orchestra with at least two other instruments (e.g. flute, piano, violin, cello, saxophone, etc.) The band members are naturally paid for their work; therefore, there are fees involved in performing with the band. Pricelist is available on request.
